Here I’m asking and answering questions! They will be on both books and music, and the comment box is below – enjoy!
Music Bit
First off, what new releases are everyone excited for? I have quite the list – for a start Everything’s Falling by The Warning is coming out tomorrow!!! I’m so excited for this album, the first three songs are amazing and the teaser of Bite My Tongue I heard promises greatness. Then there’s The Meffs new album Business coming out in 2 weeks, the singles from which clearly show that The Meffs are still as energetic and political as ever. And there’s Blackwood Pew by Muireann Bradley and Dead Company by Royal Blood coming later in the year, and I think NOAHFINNCE is angling for a concept album with the most recent two singles and music videos, though we don’t have a release date. I think we’re being spoiled!
Secondly, what are some favourite album/single cover artworks? I feel that the art on the cover is a part of the experience of a piece of music, and you really want something that sets the scene. I have to have Three Cheers For Sweet Revenge by My Chem up here cause its ICONIC and it has a brilliant story! Other than that, my top ones are: Queen of the Murder Scene (The Warning), Father of All… (Green Day) and Dear God (The Pretty Reckless) with an honourable mention to anything Bury Me With You puts on their releases cause its all so gorgeous in a very 2000s MySpace way.
And finally for my fellow music-addicts, what’s your biggest guilty pleasure or ‘exception song’ (as in, I don’t like this artist, but there’s this one song)? I think mine are these two Harry Styles songs… I’m ruining any cred I had in punk/alt circles, but Kiwi and Only Angel are both really good! Sorry not sorry
Book Bit
To start, what’s a book you wish you could go to or live in? This is a tough one for me, cause I don’t think I’d last two weeks in a lot of the books I’ve read, though it would be a good two weeks. (Yes I’m paraphrasing a possibly well-known quote there). I might go for Percy Jackson’s world, but that would only be worth it if you were actually some form of demigod… and again with the two weeks thing. One to think on.
Nextly, silence or background noise while reading? I personally definitely go for background noise, unless its super intense or I’m particularly tired – and if I’m spinning some vinyl getting up to change the side gives my eyes a regular break!
(almost) Lastly, what book have you reread the most? I actually have a few, I think I’ve read Treasure Island about 4-5 times, as its quite a comfort book for me, and I feel very learned when I can remember plotlines or quote it! Another would be One Of Us Is Lying by Karen M. McManus, which I guess I’ve read about 4 times, as its another comfort book and one of the first young adult novels I read. (Alongside Clockwork Angel by Cassandra Clare, The Modern Faerie Tales by Holly Black and AGGTM by Holly Jackson… my intro to YA was kinda intense, for a 12 year old) I think the entire Inheritance Games saga is going to join the most read ones soon, as I’m determined to actually understand it and try to guess the end, so I may be re-reading the whole series before each new book comes out.
