Hi! I’m Eryn, I live in the Scottish Highlands, I’m in the throws of my teenage years and I’m home-educated.
But the relevant part about me is that I love alternative music and most genres of YA books (Actually, basically all genres – I’m not a horror person but I’ve read Kathryn Foxfield and Lockwood & Co., and I’d say I’m not a romance person, but that’s part of the reason Cassandra Clare and Jennifer Lynn Barnes are two of my favourite authors).
I also write creatively, and am working on a novel now – its set in Edinburgh and is partly based around the misadventures of an underground punk band. Part of the reason I’m doing this blog is to hopefully get a couple readers when I (eventually) publish.
My music taste ranges from Black Sabbath to blink-182, Bring Me The Horizon to Billie Eilish, though my 5 tip-top favourite bands are My Chemical Romance, The Warning, Green Day, Bring Me The Horizon and The Pretty Reckless (though this list is subject to my mood, the lunar phase and the direction the wind is blowing).
Although my title suggests just music and books, some movies and TV might sneak in too! My favourite shows are Buffy the Vampire Slayer, The Night Manager, Sherlock and Torchwood. (I know, I watched Torchwood before Doctor Who, I’m a terrible person deal with it) And I think my favourite movie ever is Thunderbolts*, or The Odyssey, or maybe The Drama… I’m terrible at choosing!
I can’t list my favourite books, because they are even more variable than my favourite artists and there would simply be too many in any case. My favourite authors are probably Jennifer Lynn Barnes, Karen M. McManus, Hafsah Faizal, S. G. MacLean, Cassandra Clare and Holly Black.
I enjoy extreme sports, including horse riding, climbing (indoor and outdoor) and downhill MTB. Because I’m also making my way through exams, qualifications, and other educational exploits, I can have very busy weeks, so I’m sorry if posting is ever patchy – I will be back, though aiming to post new reviews and content every Sunday evening! (Though there might be quite a few rogue ones in-between too!)
